Job Description

What you will be doing:

  • Underwrite, research, and write Title Policies, primarily for commercial transactions, in accordance with internal and external policies and regulations.
  • Examine title searches or Abstract reports for the preparation of Commitments for Title Insurance.
  • Prepare appropriate write-ups for commitments and policies with extended coverage.
  • Properly price commitments, endorsements, and policies using the appropriate schedule of fees and charges.
  • Complete calculations of Maryland recording taxes based on multistate/multijurisdictional transactions.
  • Familiarize with all aspects of title work.
  • Utilize technical bulletins to evaluate and resolve problems.
  • Select appropriate write-ups for commitments and policies, both standard and extended coverage, and write error-free instructions to production typists.

Experience you will need:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with company operating systems and knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, is strongly desired.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and the ability to research independently as needed.
  • Ability to keep up in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to manage and balance multiple projects.
  • Detail and quality orientation.
  • Analytical review skills.
  • Research skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • 3-5 years of title or related real estate experience.
  • High School diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.
