THE POSITION:

The Fundraising & Development Manager is an integral part of Food For Health’s fund development team. The position is directly responsible for many aspects related to the day-to-day function and success of the team’s fundraising goals. This position will support the VP, Fund Development in creating a robust individual donor base through research, cultivation and stewardship. This role is also responsible for the full scope of grant management, implementation and reporting. The Fundraising & Development Manager develops and manages a comprehensive communication and outreach plan to support revenue goals as well as overseeing our donor database system. This person is responsible for establishing systems and processes to adequately manage grants, sponsorships, major gifts, and special events to ensure we are compliant with applicable laws, regulations and guidelines related to fundraising relationships with prospective donors (i.e., individuals, corporate and foundations), across multiple sectors (locally, regionally, and nationally).

• Meet and/or exceed annual fundraising revenue objectives.
• Successfully manage fund development processes, infrastructure and operations.
• Develop and maintain high awareness of the organization resulting in an optimized and perpetual donor network (locally & nationally). 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Donor Cultivation & Stewardship

• Coordinate all donor mailings, including appeals, stewardship and donor communication.
• Use the Moves Management framework to build/maintain a portfolio of current and potential donors including corporations, organizations, foundations, and individuals.
• Develop and deploy donor pipeline strategies to support prospect development and ensure effective portfolio review and management; conduct prospect research as needed.
• Spearhead stewardship and donor relations efforts (activities conducted after a gift is made to demonstrate impact and retain donors).
• Donor and community event coordination including events such as donor stewardship and cultivation events, community space rentals, tabling events. Event coordination includes but is not limited to event planning, guest organization and communication, venue and vendor coordination, program coordination before and after events.
• Manage and implement local business give back programs

Grants & Asks Management

• Oversee grant writing team to manage all aspects of the grants process, including creation and management of grants calendar and grant reporting
• Write and submit grants, appeals and corporate asks as needed
• Work with Food For Health team to create impactful messaging, project budgets 

Development Marketing & Communications

• Develop and manage comprehensive annual schedule of mailings, e-solicitations, e-blasts, digital fundraising campaigns, website maintenance and updates and other development database communications and inform strategy for target audience, criteria and parameters.
• Work with FFH team to create program participant stories and videos for marketing, development and stewardship purposes.
• Collaborate with the VP, Fund Development and MarComm team to create Fund Development collateral.
• Establish printing timelines for mailings and manage deliverables with external print house.
• Manage content for digital and social media channels.
• Work with FFH team to create content for digital and social media channels

Development Operations & Compliance

• Manage and provide oversight of the donor database, including maintaining donor records, creating and enforcing data policies and training staff.
• Accurately enter all gifts into the donor database and generate error-free, timely donor acknowledgment letters.
• Establish and maintain fundraising metrics, key performance indicators and insightful dashboards that enable fair and equitable measurement of fundraising activities and goals.
• Report regularly (weekly, monthly, annually) on all activities via donor database and event tracking to identify outcomes and engagement.
• Partner with Finance to ensure gifts are tracked/credited appropriately and balanced against general ledgers.
• Coordinate/manage internal and external support resources, as needed.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations or guidelines related to fundraising.

PERSONAL SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES: 

• Minimum of five years' experience in fundraising for a nonprofit organization, with increasing responsibilities
• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Nonprofit Management, or related field preferred
• Demonstrated ability to fundraise and generate income.
• Experience with grants management and excellent knowledge of fundraising strategies, principles, and best practices.
• Experience managing donor databases
• Superior organizational skills and techniques with dedication to detail and managing multiple priorities.
• Exceptional written, verbal, interpersonal and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently in a deadline-oriented team environment and serve as a strong and effective advocate for the organization in the community.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
