BAE Systems is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer / Process Engineer for our combat vehicle manufacturing facility in York, PA.
As a Manufacturing Engineer / Process Engineer, you will:
- Support production, business, and other processes in a team-based manufacturing environment.
- Perform activities in a variety of cross-functional areas including production planning and control, total quality management, systems, manufacturing, equipment and facilities engineering, material management, and process engineering.
- Interact with internal and external customers with respect to product planning, problem resolution, and process improvement.
- Participate in a diverse team environment to resolve manufacturing issues associated with production planning and supporting processes.
- Use theoretical knowledge of common manufacturing processes including machining, welding, painting, mechanical and electrical best practices etc.
- Develop and maintain Standard Work in partnership with Operations for established manufacturing processes.
- Work with Material Planning and Industrial Engineering teams to structure and maintain Operation Sequence Numbers (OSN) in the Bill of Materials (BOM) and Production Work Instructions (PWI).
- Lead Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) to identify, quantify, and mitigate risks in manufacturing processes.
- Evaluate design and production requested changes for impacts to manufacturing processes and defining Scope of Work (SOW) for outsourced component upgrades (OSP).
- Evaluate complex problems throughout manufacturing for process and design deficiencies and providing structured corrective action to improve quality, reduce cost and maintain schedule (e.g. 5-WHY and A3 Problem Solving).
- Travel as necessary to other manufacturing sites to provide manufacturing support.
- Maintain a safe work environment and ensuring compliance with safety objectives and policies.
- Share responsibility of self-development with immediate supervisor.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills - Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering (or closely related degree) and 2 years of applicable work experience
- Possess a strong understanding of the assembly of heavy equipment, automobiles, and/or defense products
- Literacy in industry-specific software (Enterprise Product Data Management (EPDM), CreoView, SolidWorks, Oracle, etc.)
- Familiarity with configuration management processes and Bills of Material
- Experience with Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) or other risk management tools
- Demonstrated experience reviewing, comparing, and evaluating drawings for manufacturing
- Strong communication and coordination skills to facilitate cross-functional process definition
- Highly organized and requirements driven critical thinking
- Familiarity working in a heavy-manufacturing environment
- Flexibility to travel as necessary to other manufacturing sites
- May consider candidates who do not meet all the above requirements for a more junior role
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills - Experience with welding or other fabrication processes
- Experience with military vehicle systems is preferred
- Experience working with the Department of Defense and/or military and/or government is a plus
- Experience with production planning and manufacturing process development
Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range: $68700 - $116800

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
